The object of the Nuclear Physics Division (NPD) is to assist the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in nuclear physics.
We define nuclear physics as the study of nuclei, their structure, disintegration, interactions and other properties, including the constituent parts of the nucleus and their interactions with one another and with nuclei and with the atomic environment.

Some of the divisional activities are the recognition of outstanding achievements by giving a number of prestigious prizes and awards, organisation and approval of conferences, publication of topical papers, and furthering the exchange of scientists and students.
