Call for undergraduate students' internship at ALBA-CELLS

From September 8th until September 28th, undergraduate students interested in doing an internship in the ALBA Synchrotron can submit a proposal. Further information can be found on the ALBA-CELLS website.

EPFL: The SwissTech Convention Center, a laboratory for conferences of the future

The SwissTech Convention Center, which opened today, is one of the most modern and best equipped conference centers in the world. With this new tool that makes it possible to organize the most ambitious meetings, EPFL reaffirms its strong position at the heart of Europe’s scientific community. Funded by two Credit Suisse real estate funds, the building and the Northern Quarter in which it stands were planned and carried out by HRS Real Estate SA according to plans by the architectural firm Richter Dahl Rocha & Associés SA in Lausanne. In a world first, a solar photovoltaic facade composed of “Grätzel cells” has been installed with the support of Romande Energie.

ESA Spin Your Thesis! - deadline for proposal 9 December 2013

The European Space Agency [ESA] is proud to announce the fifth edition of the Spin Your Thesis! programme. Through this programme, several teams of university students will be given the opportunity to carry out experiments in hypergravity using the Large Diameter Centrifuge facility at ESTEC in the Netherlands.
Spin Your Thesis! calls for students to design and develop a scientific or technological experiment that requires hypergravity (between 1 and 20 times Earth's gravity) for a few hours or days, as part of their syllabus.

The submission deadline for experiment proposals is December 9, 2013.

Up to four teams will be selected to perform their experiments during ESA’s Spin Your Thesis! 2013 campaign, which will take place in September-October 2014.

Thinkrotron: Echoes of the ESRF

From Saturday, 5th October 2013, and for three months, the ESRF will be a pivotal element of an exhibition called "The Chamber of Echo” (La chambre d’écho), organised by the Grenoble Centre for Scientific, Industrial and Technical Culture (CCSTI). The work is staged in the orange grove that borders the lush botanical gardens of the town’s Natural History Museum.
