role of EPS in scientific conferences
One of the roles of the European Physical Society is to coordinate international physics conferences in Europe. The Society protects the interests of physicists by insisting on high scientific standards. The quality labels 'Europhysics Conferences' and 'EPS Sponsored Conferences', have been established to guide physicists in their choice of conferences. Requests for the use of the label Europhysics or EPS Sponsored Conference should be made as early as possible to effectively use the label.
Any of the following may be eligible for the label Europhysics or EPS Sponsored :
- symposia
- seminars
- workshops
- schools and training courses
To simplify the terminology they are referred to, in EPS documents, as Conferences.
In addition to permission to use the guarantee of quality attached to the labels of Europhysics Conference and EPS Sponsored Conference, conference organisers and participants may benefit from Conference Grants.
Without exception, all the Scientific meetings in which EPS plays a role must be open to participants without restrictions based on sex, nationality, race or religion. The organisers must choose the venue of the meeting in such a way that the local legislation will not interfere with this rule.
