eps-uha 'conférences exceptionnelles'
Outstanding scientists speak to UHA students and Mulhouse high school pupils on attractive topics related to physics
The European Physical Society (EPS) and the Université de Haute Alsace (UHA) are collaborating to organise two annual 'Conférences Exceptionnelles' given in French by prominent speakers. Attractive topics related to physics will be presented in a 45-minute long lecture with ensuing discussions between students and speaker.
Young physics students and pupils approaching their baccalauréat are welcome to participate and to experience the presentation of cutting-edge research in an easily accessible lecture. A basic knowledge of physics is required.
The prominent scientists, invited by UHA and EPS over the last few years, and their topics were:
- Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, Nobel Laureate, Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, ENS, Paris
'Les atomes et la lumière'
- George Meylan, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale, Lausanne
'Les preuves observationnelles du Big Bang'
- Rolf Landua, CERN, Genève
'Matière et anti-matière — anges ou démons'
- Claus Fröhlich, Observatoire/Centre Mondial de Radiation (PMOD/WRC) Davos, Suisse
