Federation of Ibero American Physical Societies (FEIASOFI)

The EPS regularly receives reports on the activities of FEIASOFI, and is represented at FEIASOFI general meetings.

AFRICA

The African Physical Society

The African Physical Society [AfPS] was created to promote and further research in Physics and Mathematics Africa, and to promote effective contacts and co-operation among African physicists and astronomers. The EPS supports the AfPS.

The African Astronomical Society

The African Astronomical Society was created in January 2011 to be the voice of the astronomy profession in Africa in order to promote and support research on the continent, and to facilitate the use of astronomy in addressing the challenges faced by Africa. The EPS supports the AfAS.

Chinese Physical Society

The EPS and the Chinese Physical Society [CPS] exchange speakers at important conferences. For more information, please contact the EPS Secretariat.

AAPPS

The EPS and the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies [AAPPS] work together to enhance cooperation between physicists in Asia and in Europe. Two Asia-Europe Physics Summits [ASEPS] have been organised.

The first ASEPS meeting was organised in Tsukaba, Japan in March 2010. The second ASEPS meeting was organised in Wroclaw, Poland on October 2011.

MIDDLE EAST

SESAME

Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East [SESAME] is the Middle East's first major international research centre in the making.

It is a cooperative venture by scientists and governments of the region set up on the model of CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). It is being developed under the auspices of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization [UNESCO] following the formal approval given for this by the Organization's Executive Board at the 164th session in May 2002.

The EPS supports grants for researchers from SESAME member countries to attend schools and training sessions.
